The perspective is from a camera the player is holding, and glitches unnervingly when Slenderman is near The game does not let the player pause when in an intense situation. I would not give this game to any individual under the age of 10. Long story short, this is one of the scariest games of all time, but features little violence, which means if you have a kid that is able to handle large amounts of psychological dread and fear, I would let them have a chance with it.

The camera falls to the floor and it views the protagonist's legs, as they are dragged away by the white hooded figure.Īfter many draft endings, this is the final one and the developers have confirmed that the character was too strong to succumb to the influence of Slender Man, and was therefore killed. The game ends with the protagonist being knocked out and waking up in a burned out house, and finally finding her friend, however, when approaching her friend, her friend becomes the white hooded figure from earlier and punches the player until she drops the camera and presumably dies. When the player is unable to defend themselves, the hooded figure will pounce on top of them, punching them repeatedly while screeching. This character has some kind of black grime under their mask and on their face, and they make very creepy sounds when looking for the player. They are chased down by slenderman, and a character wearing a white sweatshirt and a white mask. The dead, rotting, reanimating body then chases the player later in the game, in which they watch a tape and have to control the character in the tape, running away from the dead child on his old family farm.Īnother scene revolves around the player running through an abandoned mine, attempting to turn on generators to power the elevator so they can get out. The scene is highly disturbing with the forest closing in around the child and the child screaming for his parents until he is enveloped in dark tendrils. In a secret chapter, you play as a young boy who is lured away from home by a trail of toys, and is abducted by slender man. This game is also heavily disturbing in a number of other ways, as well. There is no violence or blood outside of the burned corpse. The character goes on a quest to save her friend and does not give up. There is one good role model in this game, that being the character that the player controls. The player does not see this happen, but views the charred corpse near the end of the game. Keep in mind, though, that Slender can be more disturbing than outlast in a lot of ways, with *Spoiler* A character committing suicide by dousing himself in gasoline and lighting himself. Slender manages to replicate the horror and looming feeling of dread that Outlast did so well, but minus the gore and violence. It came out the same year as outlast, and their gameplay feels similar in a number of ways. Slender: The Arrival is known as one of the best Indie horror games ever released.
